Two construction professionals approaching a brick home

Who we are

Take care of people.

We provide remodeling and renovation, roofing, water-damage restoration and reconstruction, and other construction services across Dallas–Fort Worth. But the work itself is only part of what we’re building.

We want every homeowner to feel comfortable trusting the people working on their home. We want our employees and subcontractors to know they’re valued, and to have the opportunity to build long-term careers here. And we want to build a company whose reputation and values can be carried forward by the next generation of the Selbor family.

We don’t measure success only by how many projects we complete. We measure it by the trust we earn and the relationships that remain after the project is finished.

Treat every homeowner like a friend by doing honest work, communicating openly, taking responsibility, and taking care of people from start to finish.

That’s not a slogan we wrote for a website. It’s the instruction our people are given.

Nobody is born knowing this. Somebody taught us, so we teach.

Care shows up in the details you only notice when they are missing.

The Selbor Test

When nobody’s sure what to do.

Construction generates situations no policy manual anticipates. A wall opens up and there’s something behind it nobody priced. A delivery is late. Somebody makes a mistake.

So we gave everyone one question to fall back on:

If this homeowner were my friend, how would I handle this?

Would you tell them about the problem? Would you accept this workmanship in their home? Would you explain the extra cost before going ahead? Would you return their call? Would you admit the mistake? Would you take the extra step?

If you’d do it differently for your friend, you already know what the Selbor answer is.

Our values

What we hold ourselves to.

Honesty — tell the truth, even when the truth is difficult. We don’t mislead homeowners about their projects. We don’t promise what we can’t deliver. We don’t hide mistakes. We tell you what we know, what we don’t know, what could happen, and what changes when new information turns up. Our standard: if the homeowner deserves to know, we tell them.
Take care of people — people are more important than transactions.Whether you call us for a $100 repair or a $500,000 project, you deserve our attention, respect, honesty and care. The same goes internally — we want our people here in five, ten, twenty years. Our standard: take care of the people who trust Selbor, and the people who make Selbor possible.
Accountability — own the problem and fix it.Mistakes happen in construction. Hiding them is unacceptable. When Selbor is responsible, we take responsibility — including the financial responsibility where that’s appropriate. Our standard: don’t hide it, don’t blame it, don’t put a Band-Aid on it. Fix it.
Communication — more when it’s difficult, not less. It’s your home. You deserve to understand what’s happening in it. When the scope changes, something unforeseen appears, or a delay hits, we over-communicate. Our standard: no avoidable surprises.
Workmanship — the way you’d want it in your own home.Completing the scope isn’t enough. We don’t knowingly move forward with work that’s wrong, and we don’t cover problems to finish faster. Our standard: if we wouldn’t accept it in our own home, we shouldn’t ask you to accept it in yours.
Relationships — the project ends, the relationship doesn’t have to.We’d rather earn enough trust that you call us again, ask us for advice, and feel comfortable giving our name to people you care about. Our standard: a completed project is successful when the homeowner would gladly call us again.

Community

The trades need the next generation.

Construction is a real profession and a good living, and it needs people coming up behind us. As we grow, we want to mentor younger people interested in construction careers, create opportunities to learn a trade, support local schools, clubs and sports, and build genuine relationships in the communities we work in.

It isn’t enough for our name to be known. We want what it stands for to be known.

Legacy

Built to be handed on.

The long-term goal isn’t to leave the next generation a profitable business. It’s to leave them a standard worth continuing.

The company can get bigger. The projects can get bigger. Leadership can eventually pass from one generation to the next. The foundation shouldn’t move: tell the truth, take care of your people, take care of your customers, do work you’re proud of, own your mistakes, build relationships.

Come see whether we’re the kind of company we say we are.

Tell us what’s happening and we’ll tell you what we think.
